Priego de Córdoba is a town located in Córdoba, Andalucía, Spain. It is a very beautiful and lovely place to visit. We love wondering around the winding streets where flowers pots are hanging on the white walls. It is a relatively unbeaten track to most international travellers.
Unknown to most people, this town has produced more than 600 national and international olive oil award-winners and notably, the first award received by an olive mill in Priego de Córdoba could be traced back to 1912.
Señorío de Vizcántar extra virgin olive oil is one such award-winner. Furthermore, its olive oil is certified by the Protected Designation of Origin of Priego de Córdoba, which is the seal of quality for its Quality & Origin.
Our Visit
In January 2015, we visited Priego de Córdoba and Vizcántar’s olive groves and its milling & storage facilities.
We have also attended an olive oil tasting workshop conducted by Mr Fermín Rodríguez, the owner of Vizcántar, an olive oil Master Taster himself, and a National Champion of Spain in 2016. During the workshop, we are introduced to the complex world of authentic extra virgin olive oil.
